Jakarta (ANTARA) – Agung Gumilar Saputra was officially appointed Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Data Analysis on Wednesday (8/10) at the State Palace in Jakarta.
His name is listed in Presidential Decree (Keppres) number 33/M of 2025 relating to the appointment of Special Assistants to the President for the period 2024-2029.
In this new position, Agung is tasked with assisting the President in preparing and managing important data that forms the basis for making strategic decisions for the country.

Professional profile and track record of Agung Gumilar
Born on June 12, 1979 in Tanggerang, Agung Gumilar is an alumnus of SMA Taruna Nusantara, an educational institution that has produced many strategic figures in Indonesia.
His relationship with President Prabowo has existed for a long time, to be precise since 1997, when Agung was one of the recipients of a scholarship program initiated by Prabowo for exceptional students.
After completing his secondary education, Agung continued his studies at the Virginia Military Institute, United States, majoring in civil engineering with a bachelor’s degree.
Not only that, Agung also has other titles in the world of finance and technology, including:
- Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science and Information Technology from Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway, with a thesis in the field quantum computing.
- Master in Management from the German-Swiss University of Indonesia (2006).
- MBA Finance at Hochschule Konstanz, Germany.
- MComm (Accounting) from Curtin University, Australia (2016).

It is known that Agung is currently undertaking doctoral studies at the Institute of National Government (IPDN) and the School of Business and Management, Bandung Institute of Technology.
After returning to Indonesia, he joined the Indonesian Army and served as an infantry second lieutenant in the elite Kopassus unit.
At that time, Agung was placed at the Special Forces Education Center (Pusdikpasus). However, in 2005, he chose to take early retirement as an officer and served as Prabowo’s personal assistant in data analysis.
In the world start Abroad, Agung is the founder of technology company ClearKarbon Exchange in Norway, as well as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
In 2009, Agung also became involved in legislative governance. He is running as a member of the Gerindra Party’s RI DPR for West Java’s X constituency district (Ciamis, Kuningan, Banjar). However, he failed to get the post.
In 2024, he decided to join the government assistance group chaired by TNI (ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. In this team, he played a role in formulating various national strategic policies, as well as supporting the implementation of digitally driven government transformation programs.
Upon the inauguration of state officials in 2025, Agung was installed at the same time as Dirgayuza Setiawan, who was given the post of Special Assistant to the President for Communications and Policy Analysis.
