Jakarta (ANTARA) – Police Commissioner General (retired) Akhmad Wiyagus has been officially appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs (Wamendagri) in the Red and White Cabinet by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
The inauguration procession took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon (8/10).
This inauguration is based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) number 32 M of 2025 relating to the dismissal and appointment of deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet for the period 2024-2029.

Identity and educational background
Akhmad Wiyagus was born in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on 23 September 1967. He graduated from the Police Academy (Akpol) in 1988, specializing in the field of investigative work. Besides that, Wiyagus holds a doctorate in law from Trisakti University.
Police career
Known to be highly disciplined and dedicated, Wiyagus began his career as the police chief of Sabhara Pandeglang and Dantontar Mentarsis Akpol in 1992. In 1996, he served as the police chief of Margacinta Polwitabes Bandung, before taking up the position of police chief of Regol in 1997.

His achievements and dedication in various strategic positions resulted in Wiyagus being awarded the 2022 Hoegeng Awards in the Policing with Integrity category at the 76th commemoration of Bhayangkara Day. On 13 April 2025, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Police for Operations (Asops Kapolri) until 30 September 2025, and then took up the new position of Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.
Installation as Deputy Minister of the Interior
The inauguration of Wiyagus was marked by the recitation of the oath presided over directly by President Prabowo Subianto. In his oath, Wiyagus declared his loyalty to uphold the 1945 Constitution and implement all laws and regulations for the sake of service to the nation and state.
“That I will be loyal and uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and fulfill all statutory provisions as directly as possible for the sake of my devotion to the nation and state,” Wiyagus said during the swearing-in.
With this new position, the public hopes that Wiyagus can bring a spirit of reform and great dedication to the advancement of government and public services in Indonesia.
