Profile of Dirgayuza, Assistant to the President for Policy Analyst Communications

Jakarta (ANTARA) – To strengthen the strategic communication structure within the Presidential Palace, President Prabowo Subianto officially appointed a special presidential assistant on Wednesday (10/8).

The eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia has appointed Dirgayuza Setiawan as Special Assistant to the President for Communication and Policy Analysis.

His name is listed in Presidential Decree (Keppres) number 33/M of 2025 relating to the appointment of Special Assistants to the President for the period 2024-2029.

After his appointment, Dirgayuza expressed his gratitude for the new mandate and the prayers extended to him.

“Let us work together to create the Indonesia we dream of, with narratives that matter and policies considered and decided wisely,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Professional profile and track record of Dirgayuza Setiawan

Dirgayuza was born in Jakarta on May 15, 1989 and is currently 36 years old. He is the son of Captain CDM. Dr. Boyke Setiawan, Military Skydiving Instructor and Jasmin Kartiasa Prawirabisma, National Skydiving Athlete.

Dirgayuza began her Bachelor of Arts studies at the University of Melbourne, specializing in media communications and political science.

His achievements during his studies led him to be considered Vice President of PPIA (Indonesian Students Association in Australia) and Indonesian delegate to the Y8 Summit in 2013 as Head of State.

In addition to this, he has also achieved other achievements, namely being elected as an intern MP in the Victorian Parliament (2011) and being nominated for the prestigious Australian Alumni Awards (2012).

Subsequently, he was elected as a member of the Indonesian Youth Parliament (2012) and was given the role of chairman of the Greater Indonesia Movement Party’s Student and Student Affairs Department (2012).

After graduating from Melbourne, he furthered his experience through the Executive Program in International Business/Trade at Tsinghua University, China in 2013.

Subsequently, he went on to study Masters in Internet Social Sciences (MSc) at the University of Oxford, England in 2015-2016. At Oxford, Dirgayuza actively researches issues relating to digital media, Internet regulations and the protection of children in cyberspace.

Based on the OII Oxford documents, he published about 11 practical books on technology and one book on political philosophy.

Meanwhile in Indonesia, his works are known as “Values of the Warrior Warrior, Prabowo: Record Photos of the Patriot” (2015) and the editing of the books “Indonesian Paradoxes and Solutions (2022)”, “Indonesia Menang (2018)”, “Military Leadership (2021)”, “Nation Transformation Strategy: Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045” (2023) and “100 Ideas for New President and Presidential Decree” (2023).

Dirgayuza is also listed as a member of the Oxford Indonesia Society and Indonesian Youth Diplomacy. Among his commitments, he teaches as an Addict Fellow at the Center for Digital Society Studies, Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

Dirgayuza, or often called Yuza, is not a new figure in government circles.

He held the position of Chairman of the Expert Group at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (2021-2022) and is known to have been active in political wing organizations from a young age, such as through Tunas Indonesia Raya at the age of 24.

His involvement in Gerindra’s inner circles is no stranger. In the 2014 campaign, he was dubbed one of Prabowo Subianto’s trusted young “Jedi Knights” along with several other young names.

He was also the main scriptwriter of President Prabowo’s speech in 2019 and joined the 2024 Prabowo-Gibran ministerial exchange. In addition to this, Dirgayuza was given the role of head of social media and infopub for the Gerindra Party (2017-2020).

Before entering the world of government, Dirgayuza had pursued a career in other sectors and held strategic positions in private to state-owned companies.

Among other things, he has worked as a consultant at McKinsey Indonesia (2017-2020), principal deputy director of PT Agro Industri Nasional (2020-2022), director of business development and marketing of PT Angkasa Transportindo Selaras (2022), director of business development and control of PT RNI (Persero) or ID FOOD (2023-present).

In addition, Dirgayuza will also serve as Deputy CEO of AGRINAS (2020-2022), Co-Founder of Carbon Offset Asia (2021-2023), Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RNI Pension Fund, Founder and Commissioner of PT Lestari Bumi Pertiwi, as well as the Advisory Board of the Asta Cita Center, as well as Head of the GP Ansor Center.

Dirgayuza has also pursued a career in writing by becoming a blogger on Rantang.com.au, a blog run by ABC Radio Australia.

Subsequently, he played a role in designing and directing the production of the Lingkar Ide PPI Australia documentary series, which highlighted the journey of Indonesian researchers to Australia to be broadcast on YouTube.

With three colleagues he founded the platform idenesia.com (Ideas for Indonesia) in November 2011. In the same year, Dirgayuza also achieved international success by winning the British Council’s prestigious Global Changemaker Award.
