Senne Lammens was born in Zottegem, Belgium on 7 July 2002. He began his football career with the youth team of RC Ramburgge in 2007 before moving to FC Dender three years later. In 2014 he joined Club Brugge’s academy and four years later joined the club’s Under-21 team.
Lammens’ professional career began at Club Brugge in January 2020. However, his playing opportunities were quite limited with only four official appearances. In July 2023 he left for Royal Antwerp for free and became the club’s main goalkeeper.
With Antwerp, Lammens proved impressive making 64 appearances in various competitions last season, including 12 clean sheets out of a total of 5,760 minutes played. This brilliant performance also helped him win the 2023/2024 Belgian Super Cup trophy.
Previously, while strengthening Club Brugge, he also achieved results even though he was not the main choice, namely two Belgian championship titles (2020/2021 and 2021/2022) and two Belgian Super Cups (2021/2022 and 2023/2024).

Playing style and potential
Lammens is considered one of Belgium’s best young goalkeepers and is often mentioned as a potential successor to Thibaut Courtois in the national team. He is known for having quick reflexes, good distribution of the ball with both feet and a strong mentality in dealing with pressure.
According to Bart Tamsyn, Transfermarkt’s area manager for Belgium, Lammens stood out in the Jupiler Pro League last season because he made the most saves compared to other goalkeepers. However, he still needs to improve his accuracy and consistency to reach world-class level.
Hope at Old Trafford
Manchester United sporting director Jason Wilcox called the hiring of Lammens an important step in strengthening the team. “Senne is an exceptional young goalkeeper with great potential, we are delighted that he has chosen to join Manchester United following great interest from other clubs,” he said.
It is hoped that Lammens’ presence can represent a further option for coach Ruben Amorim when choosing the main goalkeeper. So far, this position is still occupied by Andre Onana, who often receives criticism due to inconsistent performances.
Through a long-term contract and young age, it is hoped that Lammens can develop at Old Trafford and become an important part of Manchester United’s long-term project.
