To learn more, see the following review regarding the synopsis, broadcast schedule, and cast lineup based on information gathered from various sources.
Synopsis of the film “Pangku”
Pangku focuses on the story of Sartika, a young pregnant woman determined to leave her village to pursue the hope of a better life for her future child.
Sartika’s (played by Claresta Taufan) journey is not an easy one. He had hitched a ride in a truck with the belief that his move would open up new opportunities. However, his hopes were dashed when the truck driver left him in the middle of the road.
Without any direction, Sartika meets an elderly couple, Maya (Christine Hakim) and Jaya (Jose Rizal Manua), who with open arms offer her a place to live from scratch.
Sartika still wants to find a decent job, but in reality she has to help look after Maya’s shop. There he served visitors, mostly truck drivers and workers who stopped to relax.
It was also in that house that Sartika gave birth to and raised her son, Bayu (Shakeel Fauzi). Even though they are not biological grandchildren, Maya and Jaya treat Bayu with love and take care of him while Sartika works.
Until one night, Hadi (Fedi Nuril), a truck driver who transports fresh fish, stops at the shop. This acquaintance slowly turned into love between the two. Hadi also wants to build a future with Sartika.
However, don’t expect this story to end as a sweet love drama. Once they decide to get married and live separately from Maya and Jaya, various problems start haunting them.
Pangku highlights the reality of life in lower class society as it is, without the veneer of beautiful dreams often found in romantic films in general. Through stories close to everyday life, Pangku is a place to demonstrate that Reza Rahadian is a director capable of presenting soulful drama.
This film invites viewers to look at life’s difficulties from a more honest perspective, namely that happiness is not always a matter of a good ending, but rather the courage to move forward despite limitations.
With strong acting from the cast and touching storytelling, Pangku deserves to be an important show that reflects the reality of many people, especially those from the working class who are often overlooked on the big screen.
