Jakarta (ANTARA) – Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles FC (LAFC) has announced that its young winger, Adrian Wibowo, has been called up to strengthen the Indonesian national team (Timnas) in the FIFA Matchday agenda which will take place in September and November 2025.
However, PSSI has not released any official statements regarding Adrian’s participation in the Garuda team. PSSI general secretary Yunus Nusi only confirmed that PSSI general president Erick Thohir will announce this at the same time as the citizenship oath procession for FC Utrecht player Miliano Jonathans at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (3/9).
Adrian’s name is not included in the list of 27 Indonesian national team players for FIFA Matchday September 2025 announced by PSSI on August 21. Even so, there is a possibility that the young player will be projected for the senior national team or the Indonesian Under-23 team that will appear in Group J of the 2026 Under-23 Asian Cup qualifiers from September 3-9, 2025.
Born in America, of Surabaya origin
Adrian Wibowo was born in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 2006. This 19-year-old player inherited Indonesian blood from his father originally from Surabaya, East Java. From an early age, he studied football at the Total Futbol Academy (2014–2018) before joining the LAFC academy.
His career took off further when Adrian played for the United States Under-17 National Team in 2022. He made three appearances and scored a debut goal against the Belgium Under-17s on May 7, 2022.

Shine with MLS Next Pro
Adrian began to attract public attention after consistently appearing in LAFC’s reserve team competing in the MLS Next Pro. In 2023 he made 10 appearances and 2 goals until he was selected in the MLS Next All-Star Game team. The following season, his productivity increased with the score of 10 goals in 23 games for LAFC II, which finally earned him promotion to the first team.
His senior debut for LAFC was recorded in March 2025 when he faced Kansas City. This season, according to data from Transfermarkt, Adrian has appeared 13 times for LAFC with a contribution of four goals in a total of 670 minutes played. He is known as an agile winger who can play on both sides of the wing, with speed, dribbling ability and good goal-scoring instincts.
Currently, Adrian has a market value of 100 thousand euros or the equivalent of IDR 1.9 billion, with a contract with LAFC valid until the end of 2025 plus an extension option.
Challenges in the Indonesian national team
If he were to officially arrive, Adrian would add options to the Indonesian national team’s attacking line, which often plays with the 3-4-3. However, the competition for key positions is not easy because Garuda’s team already has a number of experienced wingers such as Yakob Sayuri, Beckham Putra, Egy Maulana Vikri and Stefano Lilipaly.
At his young age, Adrian Wibowo is seen as a long-term investment for the Indonesian national team. It is hoped that his presence will increase the team’s strength in tackling the FIFA Matchday agenda and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
