Various activities for Heroes’ Day 2025 at central, regional and foreign levels

Jakarta (ANTARA) – At the beginning of November, the spirit of nationalism is once again echoed through the commemoration of Heroes’ Day which falls every November 10. This year, the 2025 Heroes’ Day commemoration carries the theme “My hero, my example: Keep moving, continuing the fight”, which is a call for all people to continue to emulate heroic values in everyday life.

To keep the fighting spirit alive and instill a sense of love for the country in the next generation, various activities are carried out nationwide. Starting from flag ceremonies, social movements, visiting the graves of heroes, to educational activities that highlight the stories of the struggle of the nation’s warriors.

All this was done as a form of respect and to remember that Indonesia’s independence and unity are the result of the great sacrifices of heroes who must never be forgotten.

The Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has released various official documents as reference for the implementation of Heroes’ Day commemorations, ranging from circulars to technical implementation guidelines.

As part of this guide, there are a number of recommended activities to do in commemoration of Heroes’ Day in 2025.

Various activities in commemoration of Heroes’ Day 2025: central, regional and overseas

Activities at the centre

At the central level, there are three categories of activity implementation, namely main events, main activities and supporting activities that help enliven the commemoration of Heroes’ Day.

1) Main activity

• National Pilgrimage Ceremony at Kalibata National Heroes Main Cemetery on November 10, 2025 at 08:00 WIB.

• Sea Flower Planting Ceremony on November 10, 2025 at 08:00 WIB in the waters of Jakarta Bay.

• National Hero award ceremony at the State Palace.

2) Main activities

• Flag ceremonies at governmental and non-governmental agencies and institutions on November 10, 2025 at 08:00 local time adapted to each condition (during the flag ceremony the leader of the ceremony reads the message of the Minister of Social Affairs in commemoration of Heroes’ Day 2025).

As for government and non-government agencies, institutions that do not hold flag ceremonies can watch the national pilgrimage ceremony at TMPN Utama Kalibata with the Indonesian Presidential Ceremony Inspector via TVRI broadcasts or the official channel of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.

• Fly the red and white flag at full height in every house and residential area on November 10, 2025.

• Silence on November 10, 2025 for 60 seconds starting at 08:15 (local time) seconds simultaneously throughout Indonesia.

• Message from the Minister of Social Affairs to welcome the commemoration of Heroes’ Day 2025 on 10 November 2025.

3) Support activities

• “Heroic Spirit in Every Step” November Run and Warakawuri/Hero Family Hospitality, Sunday 2 November 2025

– Form of activity: healthy and friendly running

– Participants: Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Employees of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Warakawuri/Hero Family, Social Pillars, Popular School Students, Karang Taruna

– Keynote speech: Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and Deputy Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia

– Location: Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta

• 1946 Battle of Lengkong History Tour, Thursday 13 November 2025

– Form of activity: historical tourism and interactive dialogue

– Participants: High school/vocational school/MA/equivalent students in DKI Jakarta area and surrounding areas

– Keynote speech: Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia

– Location: Palagan Lengkong Monument, Tangerang

Activities in the area

Similar to the central level, at the regional level there are also three categories of implementation of activities, namely main events, main activities and supporting activities which help to enliven the commemoration of Heroes’ Day.

1) Main activity

• Pilgrimage ceremony at the National Heroes Cemetery, November 10, 2025 at 08:00 local time.

• Flower Planting Ceremony at Sea, November 10, 2025 at 08:00 local time (if possible).

2) Main activities

• Flag ceremonies at government and non-government agencies and local institutions are adapted to the respective conditions (during the flag ceremony the leader of the ceremony reads the message of the Minister of Social Affairs in commemoration of Heroes’ Day 2025).

• Fly the full-height red and white flag in every home, office and residential area on November 10, 2025.

• Simultaneous silence for 60 seconds starting at 08:15 local time.

3) Support activities

• Social action and awareness raising: mutual cooperation activities to clean the Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP), as well as humanitarian activities such as donating blood or distributing aid.

• Educational pilgrimages and historical walks: educational visits to TMPs, monuments or historical places led by community members or historical observers.

• Meeting with families of heroes and veterans: A meeting to pay homage and express gratitude to the families of heroes, veterans and freedom fighters.

• Historical exhibitions in digital and physical form: display of photos, documentation of the struggle, infographics and historical objects in public spaces and platforms online.

• Scientific Writing and Historical Essay Contest: An event that encourages understanding of history while increasing analytical power and appreciation for the struggles of heroes.

• Heroic-themed artistic and cultural performances: plays, plays or poetry musicals that depict heroic stories and instill the value of patriotism.

• National Hero Costume Contest: A space for creativity by wearing hero-inspired outfits as a fun educational medium.

• A leisurely walk with a wrestling theme: a light sporting activity involving the use of costumes or attributes from the wrestling era, which in some places may be accompanied by the telling of historical stories.

• Various other support activities: additional programs that aim to promote a sense of love for country and appreciate the value of heroism in everyday life.

Activities abroad

For the Representative Offices of the Republic of Indonesia in various countries, the implementation of the Flag Ceremony on the occasion of Heroes’ Day is carried out in accordance with the conditions and regulations applicable in the respective regions.
