According to the fire department, the corporation was called around 6 a.m. to respond to an incident near Chapeau de Pescador. Video of the accident circulating on social media shows that the man who fell was apparently riding on the back of the motorcycle at the time of the accident.
The victim was rescued and taken by ambulance to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital in Gavea in critical condition. In addition to him, Marcelo da Silva, 33, and Josivan Ramos, 29, who were also involved in the accident, sustained minor injuries and were rescued by the military.
