The Australian left Interlagos without a podium and remains cautious heading into the final leg of the championship, where there is still an opening between McLaren drivers.
Oscar Piastri had a mixed weekend at Interlagos. Despite a series of strong results including wins, pole positions and podiums, the Australian was unable to repeat the same performance and fell out of the top of the rankings, while Lando Norris won the São Paulo Grand Prix and reached the podium.
After the race, Piastri was asked about his expectations for the next stage, Las Vegas. The driver seemed cautious, saying, “I don’t know yet, but I’m not thinking that far ahead. I hope it’s a little difficult, but there are always difficult situations. I don’t expect it to be any different from this weekend.”
Internal competition remains fierce at McLaren, with Norris scoring 390 points in the championship compared to Piastri’s 366 points. There are only three races left until the end of the season: Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
