This morning, a 25-year-old young woman named Camila Abigail Dessu lost her life in a head-on collision between two vehicles on the Camino Rivadavia in the Erdique region. The accident left four men with various serious injuries, and a judicial investigation has been launched to reconstruct how the accident happened.
The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the section between Route 307 and an industrial park. Initial official reports said the crash involved a Renault Kangoo van and a Renault 9. As a result of the impact, the Renault 9 overturned into a ditch and a woman was found inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The four occupants of the Kangoo were injured and taken to a city hospital.
Volunteer firefighters, SAME personnel and police were at the scene rescuing the injured and carrying out site preservation efforts. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical teams who arrived at the scene. Another occupant of the Renault 9 was also found unconscious and taken to hospital.
The case was classified as manslaughter and was handled by the prosecutor on duty from the La Plata Judicial Office. Investigators are carrying out an expert report at the scene, including an examination of both vehicles and a review of surveillance cameras in the area, with the aim of determining the cause of the collision and whether reckless operation, speeding or mechanical failure was recorded.
Rivadavia road between La Plata and Ensenada is dangerous
This route is under construction and the conditions are extremely dangerous for people passing through the area. Although the possibility of human failure has not been ruled out, the state of the arteries is known to be alarming in some areas. The fact is that to the already large number of pot-like wells, defects such as bumps and destroyed shoulders, there are added difficulties caused by ongoing modification works such as detours and embankments.
Police personnel who arrived at the scene found the Kangoo on the asphalt and the Renault 9 in a ditch after the collision. Inside the car, the couple was found unconscious and in critical condition.
Despite the quick action of Ensenada volunteer firefighters and SAME personnel, a young woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, four other injured people were taken to Horacio Cestino Hospital for treatment.
