Journalists from different media outlets across Brazil vote in 14 car categories and two car manufacturer categories. Check voters and candidates
The Trend Car 2025 Terra Ghia do Caro Award has received the highest number of votes in history for the fifth time in a row. For the 2025/2026 edition, the organizers invited 26 journalists in the field (13 men and 13 women) to select the winning cars in 16 categories (a total of 81 vehicles and a separate list of brands and manufacturers) in one round.
Electrical products are categorized by size. Hybrid car with technology
The Guia do Carro initiative has always been supported by Terra and aims to encourage new technologies. Therefore, only releases from 2025 onwards are eligible to participate. This year, to recognize commercial success, the awards also included the country’s best-selling car, best-selling SUV and best-selling electric vehicle.
The Trend Car Award is based on the segmentation of the market by powertrain and subdivision by category within that. There are therefore three categories for 100% electric vehicles (compact, medium, premium), three categories for electric vehicles (mild hybrid, hybrid, pluggable hybrid), and six categories for internal combustion vehicles (urban SUV, compact SUV, medium SUV, premium SUV/seven seat, passenger car, and sports car).
There are also two categories of pickup trucks that accept two types of propulsion: unibody pickup trucks and chassis pickup trucks. Finally, there are two categories for manufacturers (Auto Trends with 19 brands and Best Auto Manufacturers with 13 manufacturer groups).
There are four categories of ICE SUVs: Urban, Compact, Medium, and Premium.
“We try to shape categories according to market trends, which is why we abandoned the classic formula of dividing by body.” Sergio Quintanilla, founder of Trend Car Awards, explains: “Our logic is to separate by technology and vehicle size within electric vehicles, but give more space to internal combustion SUVs and pickup trucks. This is a way to encourage new technologies.”
The editors of Guia do Carro also describe two awards for manufacturers.
“One award is for Automotive Trends, which recognizes brands that represent the future. The other award is for the best car manufacturer that can bring together one or more brands. This is also a noteworthy move, as new brands and new manufacturers are entering the Brazilian car market.”
Journalists will be able to vote until November 12th at 11:59pm. Below is the list of judges for the Trend Car 2025 Awards, including each expert’s name and media. Results are expected to be announced by November 17th.
