Democrats and Republicans agree in Senate to end US government | International

It has been 39 days and 20 hours since the deal-setter was arrested at the Capitol, beginning the longest partial government shutdown in U.S. history. Delivered to audiences this Sunday at 7 p.m., news broke that Democrats and Republicans had reached an agreement in the Senate to reopen federal funding lines.

The proposal, introduced hours earlier by Senate Republicans led by Leader John Thune, was successful in persuading three opponents: Sens. Angus King of Maine, Jeanne Saheen and Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire. With them, the Conservative caucus totaled the 60 votes needed to win the qualifying majority needed to make a silent decision under Senate rules. For example, presupuestarias.

This agreement is not the end of the crossroads. shutdownwhich halted food voucher programs for millions of poor people, deprived thousands of employees of income at the expense of humbres, and resulted in chaos at airports across the country that was even better than the beginning of the end of the storm.

By the end of the day, three unusual votes were still being held in Cámara Alta, which usually rests at the Capitol, but this Sunday is an exception given the circumstances. The agreement will then be sent to the House of Commons for ratification.

All key points of the agreement were not immediately clear. But even with federal loans guaranteed up to $30, if the lack of harmony between the two parties continues, the battle could go back to square one and spark a new crisis.

The prerequisite project includes provisions that Democrats have demanded: re-enrolling federal workers who were furloughed over the winter and guaranteeing there will be no more major adjustments to the plan until the end of the year. It would also end President Donald Trump’s threat to not retroactively pay employees any wages they didn’t receive during the crisis.

That’s where Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was on the floor, presenting his Republican rivals with a proposal to restart the public spending department. Their suyos took weeks to ask Thune to negotiate with the other side with open government from then on as a condition of approving the one-year health care subsidy program foreseen in the law known as Obamacare.

“Republicans just have to decide who they are,” Schumer said. Republicans quickly said no.

It all comes as the deal comes in the wake of the US Air Force’s decision to order the cancellation of hundreds of flights at 40 major US airports early next month to address air saturation in the lower skies or the resignation of air traffic controllers and federal employees affected by the government’s sierre. More than 1,600 flights were canceled on Sunday, the third day of the Trump administration’s unprecedented measures, and delays continued to rise.

The executive lockdown has shuttered or curtailed the operations of dozens of federal agencies due to lack of funding. Since October 1, about 13,000 air traffic controllers and thousands of airport security personnel have entered the country without being paid. Many people decide to go low-income in order to have another source of income to pay for their mortgage, car loan, children’s school, or simply to fill their food pantries.

750,000 employees have been suspended from employment and work, and this continues this Sunday with logical interest in the news coming from Capitol Hill.
