“Eating an avocado at night is not harmful and, for many people, can even help improve the quality of your sleep. Avocados contain magnesium, tryptophan, vitamin B6, and nutrients involved in the production of serotonin and melatonin, neurotransmitters associated with relaxation and sleep,” explains Dr. Isolda Prado, nutritionist and director of ABRAN (Brazilian Association for Nutrition).
Experts say adding a few tablespoons of 100% cacao or vegetable yogurt can be a great, functional dinner.
Avocados are a high-calorie food (approximately 160 calories per 100 grams), so they should be consumed in moderation, especially if you want to lose weight. Your metabolism tends to slow down at night, so eating large amounts can cause indigestion and feelings of fullness.
