The manager highlighted the dominance and chances created by Mineiron, but admitted frustration with the lack of precision in his play.
Coach Leonardo Jardim lamented Cruzeiro’s lack of precision in finishing during their 0-0 draw with Fluminense in Mineirão on matchday 33 of the Brazilian Championship this Sunday (9th). Despite having the upper hand and creating opportunities, this heavenly team was stopped by goalkeeper Fabio.
In his post-match analysis, Coach Jardim emphasized that his team’s attacking performance was consistent, but that they lacked the finishing touch to convert chances into goals.
“Effectiveness is not something that can be coached very much. It has to do with the moment and the decision-making ability of the players, because at other moments some players could have finished,” the Portuguese coach said.
Although the coach was disappointed with the result, he chose to emphasize the positive aspects of Cruzeiro’s performance.
“Today we didn’t have the efficiency and artistry to complete the play. We’ll continue to work towards being more effective and improving this individual quality. If we don’t create, we’ll be worried. If we can create, it’s a sign of an attacking organization,” he added.
With the draw, Cruzeiro added another important point in the final leg of the Brasileirão, but is still under pressure for a string of wins to solidify the team in mid-table.
