This Sunday (9/11), Santo Amaro city councilor Gleyber Junior (Avante) and his advisor Diego Castro Reis were shot dead on their farm in Reconcavo Baiano. According to civilian police, the murder took place on property owned by the MP’s family in the rural area of the municipality.
Military police were called out early in the day after receiving reports of a double murder on a farm in the area. Troops arrived at the scene and found the dead.

Civilian police are investigating the incident, but so far no information regarding the author or motive for the crime has been found. The corporation said in a statement that the investigation will be carried out by the Santo Amaro Police Department.
“According to preliminary information, the victims were killed in circumstances that are yet to be determined. Representatives of the security forces, including the military-civil police and the Directorate of Technical Police (DPT), were at the scene conducting initial procedures,” the statement said.
Graeber, 37, previously served on the Santo Amaro City Council and served on the Works, Public Services and Transportation Committee. The group released a statement mourning the councilor’s death and declared a formal three-day period of mourning. Local city halls took a similar stance.
“Mr. Gleyber Junior served the people of Santo Amaro with dedication, dedication, and passion, leaving a legacy of work, respect, and love for our city. At this moment of pain, the City Council extends its condolences to his family, friends, and the entire community who share this loss,” the city council said in a statement.

The House also expressed regret over the death of 23-year-old adviser Diego Castro Reis, who worked in the House of Representatives.

Graeber, the former president of Santo Amaro’s Avante, announced on social media that he is a preliminary candidate for the Bahia State Congress.
