Pennsylvania governor responds to President Trump’s criticism: ‘It’s better to act than post’

Pará Governor Helder Barbalho (MDB) has responded to criticism from US President Donald Trump. North Americans took to social media to criticize the construction of a road “in the middle” of the Amazon rainforest.

In Truth Social magazine this Sunday (9/11), the Republicans wrote, “They (Brazil) devastated the Amazon forest to build a highway for environmentalists. This became a huge scandal.”

Helder Barbaljo took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that instead of talking about roads, President Trump should “point out ways to fight climate change.”

“We can celebrate the historic reduction in deforestation in the Amazon, focusing on the state of Pará, which has achieved the best results. Or at least follow the example of the Brazilian government and invest more than US$1 billion to protect the world’s forests. There is still time before COP30, President Trump. We are waiting for you with a hawk. It is better to act than to post,” Barbalho added.

Criticism of Trump

On the eve of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which begins in Belem this Monday (10/11), President Donald Trump criticized Brazil online.

President Trump’s comments came in response to a video by US broadcaster Foz News covering COP30 in Belem.

In the recording, reporters criticize Brazil, claiming that Environment Minister Marina Silva “bragged about cutting down thousands of trees to build this four-lane road for COP30 to show how the government manages its forests.”
