Buses and vans used for school transport are the subject of a special surveillance campaign launched by the Directorate General for Transport (DGT) until the next day. In the last campaign of this type carried out last year, 6,621 vehicles of this type were inspected, of which 1,789 were reported as non-compliant.

During the campaign, personnel from the Private Security Traffic Group and local police officers involved with the Ayuntamiento will take part. Observing the speed limit poses special problems when drivers are not using their cell phones while behind the wheel and experience other types of distractions. According to the DGT, the most common accidents involving school buses are mainly caused by driving at inappropriate speeds and lack of attention. Add to all this the regulation of alcohol and other drugs.

These bells also control the use of seat belts in vehicles where seat belts are installed. In addition to proving compliance with the technical and safety conditions of the vehicle, drivers are also required to submit the necessary permits and documents to provide this type of service. As notified by the DGT this month, drivers will be required to obtain a driving permit and will be given time to drive and rest.

General Transportation Bureau Guide Alcohol is always safe 90% of traffic accidents involving children occur in connection with school transport, and it is known that the cause of the accident is at or just before the car is put into low gear. Accidents are often caused by distraction or serious injury due to not using a safety belt.

Trafico recommends parents hire buses for school transportation that are equipped with safety belts, comply with safety measures, and teach children how to behave in the vehicle and not to park in the second row or at bus stops when going to school to avoid being run over.

The last special school traffic monitoring campaign was carried out from the 20th to the 24th. In addition to the Civil Guard Transportation Group, 300 councils from 39 state transportation departments participated. Fueron reported 1,789 vehicles. Most of the sanctions are due to administrative misconduct, such as not having a didactic resolution of special powers to carry out school transportation or not having compulsory civil liability insurance.

During the campaign, three school transport drivers tested positive for alcohol, six were under the influence of drugs, and five were sanctioned for failing to comply with the posted speed limit. According to TRAFFIC, these results “justify continuing the intervention within the scope of ‘zero tolerance for dangerous behavior’, as identified in Spain’s Vial Safety Strategy 2030.”

3 people died over the weekend

According to information from the Directorate General of Transport (DGT), three fatal accidents occurred over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of three people. One of the fatalities was a vulnerable pedestrian. Two accidents occurred on local roads (one rail in each direction) and the third occurred on a highway.

The accident was due to a road exit, collision, and collision with a pedestrian. It is registered in Ibi (Alicante), Santa Eulalia des Riu (Balearic Islands) and the capital Cordoba.

This year, 966 people died on Spain’s highways.
