Angel and Elvira and their daughter Laura were “brutally murdered” in the early morning hours of April 13, 2024, in a single-family home in Chilo Eches (Guadalajara). The victims suffered a total of 50 stab wounds (43 on the couple and seven on the young woman), as prosecutor Julia Fernandez detailed during the first round of the popular jury trial, which is being held in Guadalajara state court until November 19. The perpetrator, Fernando PS, had been planning the robbery since February, when he collaborated with Laura’s boyfriend, Christian, with whom he had an “on-and-off relationship”. Prosecutors said Christian provided Fernando with detailed information about the family’s daily life, the layout of the house and the location of valuables in order to obtain a collection of valuable watches and cash. The robbery occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m., by which time defendant knew everyone was asleep. Fernando jumped over the perimeter fence and entered the house through the kitchen terrace door, armed with a 39cm bayonet and a knife. From there he went to the master bedroom where his valuables were kept. The noise made during the search for the loot awoke Angel, who got out of bed “completely naked” and was attacked. The defendant caused fatal injuries to the heart, intestines, and diaphragm. He then attacked Elvira, who remained in bed, and stabbed her 14 times, one of which pierced her lung. Her daughter Laura tried to escape down the stairs, but Fernando grabbed her and stabbed her seven times, once in the neck, severing vital blood vessels and nerves.
