A team of Paraiba military police and civilian police was called to the scene, along with the warden of the prison where Edvania worked. The door to the home was open when authorities arrived.
Edvania had been missing for two days, according to her family and colleagues. Preliminary examination showed signs of suffocation and bruising, but no perforation.
One of the details that caught the attention of the police was graffiti on the wall of the residence with the inscription “X9”, possibly related to someone’s whistleblowing, and the acronym “CV”, which stands for Commando Vermelho. Authorities are investigating whether the marks were placed by Leonardo to simulate an execution and distract the investigation.
In a statement, the Paraiba Prison Management Secretariat (Seap-PB) mourned the death of the staff member, stressing that she was “dedicated and professional”. According to the agency’s report, Edvania has been a member of Sheep’s staff since 2012 and is currently stationed at Patos Women’s Prison.
