Yesterday was Serrano Empire. This Wednesday (12th), it will be Unidos de Villa Isabel’s turn to begin a technical street rehearsal at 28 Calle Setembro, in the district that gave it its name. The event will be held every Wednesday from 7pm to 11:30pm on November 12th and 26th, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th, and January 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, 2026.
On rehearsal days, the right lane of Calle Setembro 28th Street between Calle Duque de Caxias and Calle Luis Barboza will be closed from 7 p.m. Vehicles heading to Praça Barão de Drummond must take Duque de Caxias Street and Torres Homem Street before accessing Rua Barão de São Francisco.
During this period, Visconde de Abaete, Souza Franco, Major Barros and Silva Pinto streets will be closed to two-way traffic, and parking on the left side of Duque de Caxias Street between Vinte e Oito de Setembro Boulevard and Torres Homem Street will be prohibited.
In 2026, Villa Isabel will stage the plot “Makumbembe, Sambolemba: A Samba Singer Dreamed of Africa” in honor of Maestro Heitor dos Prazeres. This will be the second time the school will hold a parade on Carnival Tuesday.
