The State Council made the decision after judicial inspection at its headquarters amid investigations into multiple magistrates.

The State Council ruled on the judicial inspection carried out at its headquarters by the House Committee on Investigations and Indictments within the framework of the preliminary investigation against the four magistrates under Section 5.

The inspection, conducted on Wednesday, November 12, concerns two election cancellation cases involving Mayor Karima Darién and Governor of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina Islands.

The investigation was led by the head of the Complaints Commission, Gloria Arizabaleta, who arrived at the State Council headquarters accompanied by Digin and officials from the Technical Investigation Team (CTI).which aims to collect information related to the files of the aforementioned processes.

The company said in an official statement that the procedure was carried out successfully within the institutional framework. “Section 5 informs that, through the General Secretariat and the Secretariat of Section 5, the judicial review procedures determined by the House Committee on Investigations and Prosecutions in the exercise of constitutional and statutory powers are being complied with at this time,” the high court said.

According to the Commission of Inquiry’s report, the processes under investigation are in response to requests for annulment of elections filed against Mayor Karima Darién and Governor of San Andrés, as well as protective actions filed in both cases.

The judges appointed in this process are Omar Joaquín Barreto, Luis Alberto Álvarez Parra, Gloria María Gómez Montoya and Pedro Pablo Vanegas Gil, members of the Fifth Department of the Council of State.Responsible for resolving election issues.

According to opening documents of the investigation, the San Andres case analyzes allegations of fraud related to allowing claims to be amended beyond the established procedural period, which could result in a legal violation.

In a statement, the State Council stressed that the scrutiny was carried out within the legal scope and was not an unusual occurrence in the administration of justice.clarified the scope of proceedings to be carried out by the Commission on Investigation and Complaints, the constitutional body responsible for handling complaints against high-ranking state officials, including high court judges.

The files examined will be kept confidential during the preliminary investigation phase to determine whether there is sufficient merit to archive charges or proceedings.
