Brazilian skateboarder Augusto Akio, Park Modality world champion and Paris Olympic medalist, said he has high expectations for this weekend’s contest during Pro Tour STU Rio.

“The energy is going to be very high and the level of skateboarding is going to be very high. I really like this track and its design. This is a project that was originally designed by Bob Burnquist himself. So there’s a story behind it and it’s going to make us even more excited when we finally compete here,” he said.

He will compete in this category alongside experts such as Luigi Cini, Gui Couli, Pedro Barros, Colin Graham and Hiroo Nagahara. Akio told a press conference that he was excited to walk the Plaza Duo track in Barra da Tijuca (RJ).

“Here at STU, it’s a little more democratic park rink, because it’s not just created for skateboarding at the highest level in the world. In fact, it’s a public rink and a lot of children, young people, adults, and even the elderly and people with disabilities come here to practice. Many of them don’t even practice for competitions, they don’t prepare to win titles, but they come here to take advantage of the space and practice the sport for love, for leisure, as a hobby,” he commented.
