On Wednesday (12th), the legal team for Jair Bolsonaro (PL) sent a request to the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to meet with the former president, who is under house arrest by Rio de Janeiro Governor Claudio Castro (PL).
The request was made in the aftermath of Rio’s massive operation in the Alemán and Peña complexes, the deadliest police operation in Rio de Janeiro’s history, which resulted in 121 deaths.
Bolsonaro’s lawyers said: “The purpose of the request is to allow a specific personal meeting to be held at a suitably arranged date, preferably at the earliest possible date, as it requires direct interaction with the petitioner.”
The request will be analyzed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case against the former president in the Supreme Court.
Claudio Castro was in Brasilia this Wednesday to clarify the changes to the anti-faction project that are being discussed in the House of Representatives together with other right-wing governors.
The proposal was scheduled to be voted on this Wednesday. However, the analysis in the plenary session of parliament must be postponed at the request of the government and opposition leaders in parliament.
