The attack on singer Julio Reni, 66, sparked a wave of anger and solidarity on social media. After revealing that his father had lost his eyesight, he was attacked last Saturday (August 11) by a former producer who used as a weapon the statuette of the Asorianos Music Award, which the artist won on the 5th.
This Thursday (November 13), Consul Valandro Balbo, the musician’s daughter, tearfully recalled on Instagram the tense moments experienced by the victim and said that a virtual crowdfunding campaign had raised more money than expected and that the money would be used to pay for the surgery.
“I came here to thank you for the immense love that was shown yesterday (Wednesday 12/11). I just want to sum it up in a short sentence that I created looking at all the movements of love and care that took place,” he began.

Still in the publication, this cultural producer spoke about virtual crowdfunding. “We have raised far more than we asked for and we will be looking for a private surgery for my father. I can only be grateful,” she said, before venting:
“And I’ve always thought that if there’s one thing that can be said about all of this, it’s that sometimes we lose faith in humanity when we see something as tragic as what happened to an elderly, already disabled and debilitated person. When someone suffers a violent attack like the one my father suffered, we think humanity is screwed,” he declared.

Later, Julio Reni’s heirs commented on the support their family received: “But seeing so many kind people helping us, even people who don’t know us well, made me realize that there is one evil, but there are hundreds of kindnesses. So I would like to leave this message and say thank you so much,” she said.
Finally, she asked, “He will recover. Anyone who can, please hire him for your show. He will be very happy after this situation because he has all the aspects of being an artist that he has to recover,” he concluded.
