The second edition of Botecal Rio will feature 40 bars across the city competing for snacks. Co-starred with Conceição Evaristo, Jonathan Fehr and others at Frap and Madureira. The Rio version of Pro Tour Stu, where Blaza, Papatinho, and others put on shows. One of the highlights of Rio’s events this week, from November 13th to 19th, is the anniversary of the founding of the Museum of the Republic in Catete. See below:

Art battle. Guest artists create free-themed paintings in real time using a variety of techniques. DJ Bianca Gracio is in charge of the sound. Casa Shopping, Barra. Saturday, 5pm. free.
Serpentine Rewind. The 19th annual event brings together conversations about street carnival and presentations from Block 442 (Friday, 8pm) and Supervacana (Saturday, 6pm). Rio Museum of Art, Piazza Maua. Friday, 2pm. Saturday, 11am. free.

Frontier Literary Festival (Flup). It starts on Wednesday (19th) and will run until the 30th in Fulup, Madureira. The program will include conversation circles, workshops, shows and film screenings by British director Steve McQueen (Academy Award winner for Best Picture). The opening featured Conceição Evaristo and Mireille Fanon’s Table (8:30 p.m.) and the Jonathan Fehr and Trio de Cordas show (10:45 p.m.) at Viadut de Madureira.
Science for the Climate Festival. Activities include themed panels, exhibits, interactive games, and movie shows. Opening by Janela Laranjeiras. The party at the bookstore begins with a reading (11am), a table with Gregorio Duvivier and Marcelo Moutinho (6pm), and ends with a samba circle with Pedro Paulo Marta (7pm next door at Esperanza Eco). Museum of the Republic. To celebrate the Museum’s 65th anniversary, the Catete Palace Gardens will be the setting for an intensive program including samba circles, forro, dance classes, gastronomic fairs, children’s activities and more. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rock 80 Festival. This edition will feature shows by bands such as Modo Hard (3 p.m.) and A Conexão 80 (Sunday, 7 p.m.), as well as a food fair, wine and craft beer, and a kids area. Piazza Marechal Deodoro in Gloria. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Free, with 2kg of food.
MAM Petrobras Super Saturday. The event will use the museum’s gardens and pilotis to host sculpture workshops, collective murals and mask-making, as well as the Giunta Local Fair and the Curidine da Zo show (starting at 5 p.m.). Flamengo Park. Saturday, 12pm to 7pm. free.

Botekar Rio. The second edition of Rio’s gastronomic festival, which brings together 40 bars, began yesterday. Each will prepare a competitive snack (R$20-R$45) themed “Art with Hands” and will be evaluated by the public and the jury. Debut venues include Bar Brasil (Lapa). Bracarense (LeBron). Dois de Fevereiro (Health); Botica (Botafogo); Grilled Fish (Leblon); and Sul Bafo (Lapa) will join the first champion, Bar do Momo (Tijuca). Baishara (Copacabana) etc. Until December 14th.
Burning with bronze. Award-winning chef Felipe Bronze will prepare meat and seafood fillets, snacks and side dishes on the grill and serve them freely with drinks, beer, wine and sparkling wine. Feijian and DJ in the sound. Shopping Leblon terrace. Saturday, 2pm to 9pm. R$950 (via Sympla).
Quintal dos Botecos. The 13th edition of the event will be held in Parc Jacarepagua and will feature refreshments such as Bal da Portuguesa, Bal da Payxaria da Divina Providencia, Bode Queiroso and Seu Llao, as well as craft fairs and shows: RDN (Friday), Dahran (Saturday), Notturnia and Dudu Nobre (Sunday).
