Soccer player Diego Lima, 19, was shot dead on Tuesday morning, November 11, in Largo Nova Esperanza, a town in the Itapuán district of Salvador. The young man played in the youth teams of Bahia, Palmeiras and Jaquipense. This case is being investigated by the First Homicide Police Department (DH/Atlántico).

Residents found Diego Lima dead and called the police. Soldiers from the 32nd Military Police Battalion (BPM) located the body and isolated the scene until officers from the Department of Technical Police (DPT) arrived. Police crackdowns have been stepped up in the area.
