The Rio de Janeiro State Civil Police (PCERJ) arrested Daniel Azevedo D’Aquino, known as DG, this Thursday (11/13). The man has been identified as the leader of a criminal group that specializes in capturing and robbing app drivers in Rio de Janeiro.
Investigators say the gang used extreme violence to force drivers to transfer money to numerous bank accounts through Pix, and also stole money, personal items, cell phones and workers’ vehicles. A civilian police officer from the 76th Police Station (Niteroi) was responsible for the arrest.

According to the investigation, Daniel and his companions applied for the trip on a transit app, and during the trip they arrested the driver and threatened to rob him at gunpoint.
After intensive surveillance and police intelligence, the fugitive was found by investigators in a studio apartment in the Lagoinha district of Sao Goncalo, where he was captured. Investigators used this to seize an iPhone 15. According to police, the iPhone 15 was stolen by criminals in Sao Goncalo in September this year.
Two preventive arrest warrants were issued for Daniel on charges of aggravated robbery, one of which was issued by the Niteroi Second Criminal Court based on an investigation conducted by the 76th DP itself. The other warrant was issued by the First Criminal Court of Niteroi.
Prisoners can be taken to prison and appear in court while remaining in custody.
