On SBT’s “The Noito”, former BOPE captain and Globo public security commentator Rodrigo Pimentel criticized Luciano Hac’s comments in “Domingan” about the recent police actions in Rio.
“I’m shocked that the presenter paid tribute to the bandit’s mother,” said the now consultant and speaker.
“The guy could have included the words ‘mothers of police officers’ here. I would have been there a little longer…but he didn’t say it.”
The exact words of the presenter on Globo were: “120 people died in the police operation in the Alemán and Peña complexes. Behind this number are 120 mothers who buried their children.”
Huck then mentioned law enforcement officers. “I have never hidden my public support for good police, a force of well-trained professionals who are respected by businesses and the public. I believe in police as the best example, not the exception.”
Pimentel, still skeptical of Huck’s on-camera demonstrations, published an article in a newspaper lamenting the public’s unrest, citing a time when an artist was robbed.
The armed robbery occurred in September 2007 in front of a traffic light in São Paulo’s Itaim district.
Huck expressed this in his writings in Folha: “Where are the police? Where are the ‘elite forces’? Maybe even the ‘elite forces’! Call Commander Nascimento!”
“When he becomes a victim, everything changes,” Pimentel argued. “When he’s the victim, he says there should be more Captain Nascimento in Brazil. When they steal his Rolex, everything changes.”
Despite the attack, the reserve police officer said he “liked” Huck. “I like it too, but let’s keep trying,” Gentili said.
