The 39-year-old Brazilian was announced on Thursday 13th as one of the nominees for the Malta Award, which FIFA awards to the player who has scored the most beautiful goal in the final season of women’s football. This is the second time the award has been awarded, and was won by Malta herself in 2024.
The Queen’s running goal this year was the Orlando Pride game against the Kansas City Current on November 17, 2024 in the NWSL. On that occasion, she had plenty of space in midfield, making quick runs through the middle to break into the area and score with a dry cut that left both her opponents on the ground.
The winner will be decided by a vote taking into account 50% of the public vote and 50% of the vote from the FIFA Legends Committee. Public voting will take place via the FIFA website. The deadline has already started and ends on December 3rd at 6:59 pm Brasilia time.
If the Brazilian wins the support of the public and the jury for the second time, he will receive the trophy at the Best 2025 ceremony. Goals to compete for the Malta 2025 award must be scored between 11 August 2024 and 2 August this year.
