The Plaza Hotel, one of New York’s most iconic addresses, has decided to fulfill the dreams of those who have always wanted to spend Christmas like Kevin McAllister, the mischievous protagonist of “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” The hotel has launched the “Home Alone 2: New York Fun” package. This will allow fans to relive classic Christmas adventures like limousines, cheese pizza, and giant ice cream sundaes in their rooms.
“Home Alone” experience
This package offers accommodation in hotels where the movie was filmed, with spacious rooms, extra-large beds, and lockable minibars, just like in the movie. However, the biggest attraction is the program prepared for guests.
- New York Limousine Tour: Over the course of four hours, visitors will visit famous locations featured in the film, including Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, and Carnegie Hall. The tour doesn’t come with a guide, but you’ll definitely get to soak up the city’s Christmas spirit.
- Signature cheese pizza: Kevin’s favorite dishes are also part of the experience. While traveling through the city, guests receive a large pizza made only with cheese, in accordance with the character’s tradition.
- Super Sunday in the room: Once back at your hotel, it’s time to throw yourself into bed and work on your monumental “Home Alone” sundae, which includes 16 scoops of ice cream in different flavors, brownie pieces, whipped cream, M&M’s, cherry and chocolate, caramel and raspberry syrup.
How much does a Christmas dream cost?
Package prices vary depending on the type of accommodation, but are available all year round, not just at Christmas. According to the hotel, reservations must be made directly with the Plaza at least three days in advance (reservations cannot be made through third-party websites). This offer is valid for new bookings only, does not apply to groups and cannot be combined with other promotions. It may not be available depending on the schedule.
The package’s release in December 2023 coincided with the traditional marathon screening of “Home Alone” in the United States and the emotional reunion of the film’s two main characters. On the occasion, Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was honored by his on-screen mother, Catherine O’Hara.
“Thank you for including me, the fake mother who left you home alone not once but twice, to celebrate this happy moment,” O’Hara joked in her speech. “You make me proud.”
The actress also emphasized the precocious talent of her colleague. “I know you worked hard, but you made it all feel natural. It was like breaking into the house of a real little boy named Kevin and filming. And he decided to just join in for the fun of it, and it was the nicest thing in the world,” he said.
