“We can no longer tolerate structural inequities in which those who have more have more and, conversely, those who have less become poorer and poorer,” he wrote.
This book, edited by Lorenzo Fazzini, editorial director of Libreria Editoris Vaticana, compiles Leo XIV’s interventions and speeches organized around ten Christian keywords: Christ, heart, church, mission, communion, peace, poverty, fragility, justice, and hope.
In his preface, the Pope observes the state of the modern world and warns that “hatred and violence risk spilling out, like a slippery slope, until poverty spreads among the people.”
In view of this, Robert Prevost emphasizes that the remedy lies in “the very desire for communion” and “mutual recognition as brothers,” which is “the antidote to all extremism.”
The publication “The Power of the Gospel”, promoted by the Vaticana Editorial Department and ecclesiastical and cultural organizations, will be the subject of several public meetings in several Italian cities in the coming days.
The event will take place on the following dates: November 21st in Vicenza and Cremona; November 25th on Trent. December 1st, Verona. December 5th, Genoa. and Cagliari on December 15th.
In addition to the book’s introduction, the event will also screen the documentary “Leon de Peru,” produced by the Department of Communications and Diplomacy, and the recent “Leo from Chicago,” which depict and cover Leo XIV’s missionary work in Peru and his American origins. .
