Niteroi native and 2017 Brazilian vice world champion Ralph Abreu will compete in the ITF BT 50 de Niteroi, an international tournament that will be held this Friday, the 14th, in Praia de San Francisco, Niteroi. This tournament is a tournament with a total prize money of $4,000 and International Tennis Federation ranking points at stake.
Former top 10 player and Rio native João Lauro Carneiro will face his first opponent in the tournament on Thursday night.
The athlete, who is sponsored by Drop Shot and supported by the Niteroi Sports and Leisure Department and Spider Undergrip, said: “I am very happy to be back to compete in an international tournament in my hometown of Niteroi. It is a place where I have always played well and have fond memories. It is a great satisfaction to be able to play in front of my family, friends and students, especially after a complicated year in which I injured my knee and was unable to compete for about eight months.”
After returning home in September, Ralph won tournaments in Montreal, Canada, and Manhattan Beach, USA.
