Four European organizations are classified as terrorists in the United States. “Following President Trump’s historic commitment to combat Antifa’s politically violent activities, the State Department has designated Germany-based Antifa Ost and three other violent Antifa organizations in Italy and Greece as Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organizations, and will designate all four organizations as Foreign Terrorist Organizations effective November 20, 2025,” Department Secretary Marco Rubio said.

“The designation of Antifa Ost and other violent Antifa groups supports President Trump’s National Security National Security Memorandum, an effort to dismantle self-proclaimed ‘anti-fascist’ networks, groups, and organizations that use political violence and acts of terrorism to undermine democratic institutions, constitutional rights, and fundamental freedoms,” the department said. Anti-Christianity is used to incite and justify violent attacks in the United States and abroad. ”

The Trump administration assures that “the United States will continue to use all means possible to protect national security and public safety and refuse to provide funding and resources to terrorists, including the persecution of other Antifa groups around the world.”

Antifaost. Antifa Ost, also known as Antifa East and Hammerbande, is an extremist organization based in Germany. According to the Trump administration, Antifa Ost is “suspected of carrying out numerous attacks against people it considers ‘fascist’ or ‘far right’ in Germany from 2018 to 2023, and a series of attacks in Budapest in mid-February 2023.”

On September 26, 2025, Hungary, led by Ultra Viktor Orbán, declared Antifa Ost a terrorist organization and added it to the National Counter-Terrorists list.

Unofficial Federation of Anarchists/International Revolutionary Front (FAI/FRI). According to the State Department, FAI/FRI is an anarchist organization active primarily in Italy, with chapters in Europe, South America, and Asia, and that “FAI/FRI declares the need for a revolutionary armed struggle against nation-states and ‘Fortress Europe.'”

According to the Trump administration, “Since 2003, FAI/FRI has claimed responsibility for threats of violence, bombs, and letter bombs against political and economic institutions, including courts and other ‘capitalist institutions.'”

Armed proletarian justice. The State Department describes the group as “a Greek anarchist and anti-capitalist group that attempted and carried out an improvised explosive device attack against Greek government targets. The Armed Proletarian Justice Group claimed responsibility for planting the bomb near the Greek riot police headquarters in Goudi, Greece, on December 18, 2023.”

Revolutionary class self-defense. This is a Greek anarchist and anti-capitalist group, the State Department says: “The group links its actions to broader political and social issues, and is concerned with capitalist structures, state repression, and associations with Palestine.” Revolutionary Class Self-Defense has claimed responsibility for two improvised explosive device attacks on the offices of the Greek Ministry of Labor (February 3, 2024) and the Greek Railways (April 11, 2024). 2025).

Designation as a terrorist organization includes isolating organizations and individuals and denying them access to U.S. financial systems and resources. All property and property rights of designated persons or entities located in the United States or owned or controlled by United States persons are blocked.

U.S. citizens are generally prohibited from doing business with sanctioned parties. It is also a crime to knowingly provide material support or resources, or to attempt or conspire to do so. Those who engage in certain transactions or activities with sanctioned parties may be subject to sanctions. In particular, conducting certain transactions with them carries the risk of secondary sanctions under anti-terrorism laws.
