Doctors point out common drugs that can harm the liver
What many people may not know is that protein deficiency can play a crucial role in fat accumulation in the liver. When protein deficiency reaches a more severe level, the body begins to “feed” on its own tissues to obtain the necessary amino acids. This can cause changes in your liver and hormonal balance.
“The liver tends to store fat because a lack of protein impedes lipid transport, leading to fatty liver,” explains Ana Cristina Gutierrez, a registered dietitian and master of nutrition science.

In addition to the problem, which affects 30% of Brazil’s population, a lack of protein in the body also causes other problems, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
These include fatigue, chronic tiredness, loss of muscle mass, weakened immunity, and even changes in the skin, hair, and nails.

Ana Cristina GutiĆ©rrez, member of Herbalife’s Nutrition Advisory Board, emphasizes that the WHO recommends that adults consume about 0.8g of protein per kg of body weight per day.
“Many of these signs are not specific to protein deficiency, so it is essential to seek a professional evaluation from a nutritionist or doctor. A specialist will analyze your case and may adjust your diet if necessary or advise the use of protein supplements, such as whey protein, to balance your nutritional intake,” the nutritionist added.
