Residents of Ezeiza and surrounding areas are on alert following an impressive explosion in the region’s industrial hub. Initially, it was thought that the explosion occurred at a paint factory, but it was later confirmed that it was a pesticide manufacturing factory.
Several firefighters were on the scene to extinguish the fire, but the fire remains active, raising concerns about the possibility of a new outbreak. At this time, authorities have not said whether any workers were inside the factory at the time of the incident, but initial reports rule out the possibility of serious injuries.
The explosion occurred in one of the factories in the Spegazzini industrial park in Canuelas, and the shock wave affected other nearby factories and even homes in the area. Neighbors’ testimony reflects the scale of the incident. “I was listening to music at home and suddenly I heard a roar and everything went out. When I went outside and looked, I saw a column of smoke,” Cesar, a neighbor, said in an interaction with TN.
Other residents claimed to have witnessed scenes of panic and fire. “I was right in front of the place, but the police arrived and warned me that there could be a bigger explosion, so I was asked to leave. And then a huge fireball came out. The explosions continue to go off,” he added.
Several users shared the video on social networks, which quickly went viral, showing a plume of smoke rising several meters and a large flame.
