This Saturday morning, the 15th, the World Climate March will be held at the People’s Summit.
This Saturday morning, the 15th, the People’s Summit will hold a Global March for Climate Change in Belen, Pennsylvania. Civil society organizations expect around 30,000 people to attend the event. The global march begins at 8:30 a.m. at the San Blas market in the center of the capital, Pará state, and continues to the Aldeia Cabana cultural complex in the Pedreira district.
The march began with several coffins representing a kind of “funeral” for fossil fuels, assembled by international NGOs and artists from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). Other artistic performances must also take place during the demonstration.

In recent years, UN climate conferences have been held in countries with undemocratic political systems. The global march promoted during COP30 was therefore an important day for protesters, as they had not had the opportunity to do so during the previous three COPs.
The first Saturday of the COP is traditionally known as a day of demonstrations organized by social movements, NGOs, and civil society organizations. However, the march is not part of the UN’s official agenda, nor is it part of the conference itself.
The theme chosen this year is “Fighting and resisting the predators of life disguised as progress” in relation to the effects of climate change and environmental disasters. A letter from the People’s Summit should be released at the end of the march and include a series of demands, including demarcation of traditional territories, funding for a just transition, and effective climate adaptation measures.
