The Attorney General’s Office announced that Franvier Adolfo Vázquez Aponte, known as “Veneco,” was sentenced to 18 years and six months in prison in Cucuta, Norte de Santander state.

The ruling came after the defendant accepted direct participation in two episodes of Hitman as part of a prior agreement.
The agency confirmed that the learned judge upheld the plea agreement and sentenced him for charges of aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder, and manufacturing, trafficking, transporting, or possessing firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.
According to the reconstruction of the incident presented by the investigating authorities, the first attack occurred on a public road in Cucuta. Vázquez Aponte got off his motorcycle and fired unmediated at a civilian, killing him instantly.
He then attacked new victims in a local shopping center with another person, killing one and seriously injuring a third.

Authorities were able to arrest Vázquez Aponte red-handed on June 5, the same day that the National Police apprehended Vázquez Aponte, who was traveling on a motorcycle and carrying the weapon used in the attack. Since that moment, the convicted person has been held in preventive detention.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the sentence has been finalized and the convicted person will serve time in prison as determined by the court.
The Prosecutor’s Office also reported that Ricardo Rafael González Castro, who was identified as one of the participants in the fatal attack on Bogota university student Jaime Esteban Moreno Jaramillo, was given security measures at the prison center.
This decision was made by the Criminal Bond Administrator after the defendant surrendered to the authorities and was arrested by the Technical Investigation Team (CTI) at the Canapote Rapid Response Unit (URI) facility in Cartagena.
