Manager Carlo Ancelotti was satisfied with the Brazilian team’s defensive system after their team won without conceding a goal against Senegal on Saturday (15th).
The coach also praised some of the players, especially Estevan, and hinted that he will now start designing the team that will represent Brazil at the World Cup.
Ancelotti said: “We already had the backbone in place before this game. On (FIFA) day in October, we said the test was over. Now it’s time to get on a straighter path towards the World Cup.”
In an interview after the win against Senegal, the manager expressed his expectations for the quartet formed by Estevan, Vinicius Junior, Matheus Cunha and Rodrygo, and also praised the defensive aspects of the team with the addition of Militao.
Manager Ancelotti said, “It was a very beautiful game. There was a lot of pressure in the first half, but in the second half we had a lot of control. The quality of our players up front made the difference.”
“With Matheus Cunha, the front three can play very well. Vinicius can switch positions with Rodrygo, and Estevan has great talent on the right.”
The statement puts striker Neymar on guard as he rejoins Santos in hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.
Afterwards, Ancelotti said the team had a guaranteed future with Estevan. “It’s amazing to see such a young player with such talent.”
According to Palmeiras’ announcement, Estevan is the team’s top scorer with five goals under the Italian coach.
The Brazil international returned to action against Tunisia on Tuesday (18th), with manager Ancelotti hinting that Palmeiras striker Vitor Roque could be used.
Ancelotti said he should wait for the team that beat Tunisia this Saturday to recover before choosing his team on Tuesday.
“Vitor Roque has a chance to play. He is doing very well at Palmeiras,” the coach said.
