The friendly match between Angola and Argentina this Friday (11/14) ended in confusion and injuries at the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Luanda. Approximately 70 people were injured while trying to enter the stadium before or during the game. This information comes from the Angola Institute of Emergency Medicine, published this Saturday (11/15).
The incident reportedly began after police prevented fans from entering the stadium as they tried to enter. A total of 48,000 tickets were available for the game, but spectators would have been at the gates on November 11th.
Officials would have also barred fans wearing flip-flops, caps and other prohibited items from entering the event, which angered attendees. Despite what happened, no one was arrested.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bora, 23 people suffered broken bones from being trampled or falling. Another 47 people were treated for unwellness caused by overcrowding.
On the field, Argentina won 2-0 with goals from Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez.
