Brooklyn Fest is a free two-day event in São Paulo, celebrating its 29th year. A fusion of party, culture and German gastronomy takes place on Saturday (15th) and Sunday (16th) in Brooklyn, south of the city.

There will be a total of 260 food stalls, 120 cultural attractions and 4 stages. The public can taste sweets, craft beer and typical German cuisine. Other options include beef sausage (R$15) and smoked veal sausage (R$19 each).

You can also order boulets (R$42.80, 6 pieces), which are typical meatballs, as well as the traditional version of strudel (R$24.80) or the version with ice cream and whipped cream (R$28.80). Drinks include a draft pilsner (R$ 20, 500ml) and a large beer (R$ 25, 500ml).

The music area features performances of German and Austrian folk dances, bagpipes, wind quintets, choirs and typical dance groups. In German dance, the Pommerkleiner and Edelweiss groups stand out, and in Austrian dance, Tyrol stands out.

The festival also features pop, instrumental music, MPB and orchestral shows. These include the Aqui Jazz Trio, which uses violin, acoustic bass, and guitar to create sounds, and singer Vitor Trindade, who plays Afro-Brazilian music. The USP School of Music’s laboratory choir Comunicantus also participates in the program.

The activity occupies a quadrangle in the Brooklyn neighborhood consisting of Calle Joaquín Nabuco, Calle Princesa Isabel, Calle Barran do Triunfo, and Calle Bernardino de Campos.

This year’s event commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of author and novelist Thomas Mann, who passed away in 1955, and approximately 130,000 people visited over two days in the first half of the year.
