One of the employees at the Santa Fe Bar in Jardim Botanico (DF), which suffered a major fire on Friday night (11/14), reported the fear he and others present felt as the flames consumed part of the store.
Gutenberg Marinho, 38, who has worked at the bar for 14 years, said the fire started in the hood of the bakery next door. “Here in the bar, the flames started in the corner of the ceiling and spread quickly like a waterfall because of the wooden ceiling,” he explained.
The waiter elaborated that the employees’ first reaction was to evacuate the scene. “When we confirmed the fire, our priority was to remove the customers who were inside the store, which was full. Evacuation took place quickly and, fortunately, no one was injured,” Gutenberg said.

“Our main concern was for everyone’s safety. We tried to bring the situation under control, but the fire quickly intensified. We noticed the presence of gas and left the area. The flames reached such a strength that they even affected the electrical wiring that was running nearby,” Waiter elaborated.
Gutenberg said the bar typically draws about 500 people on Fridays, but due to the time of the fire, the bar had not yet reached its maximum capacity, which occurred around 8 p.m.
