Turismo Nacional began its activities this weekend at the Autodromo Internacional do Mato Grosso in Cuiabá. The third and fourth heats of the debut race were postponed due to storms, a measure taken to ensure the safety of drivers and teams. The second free practice session on Thursday had already been canceled due to strong winds.

The arrival of this category on the racetrack has also given rise to a new leader in the Category A sprint championship. João Cardoso took the lead in races 1 and 2 as Alexandre Bastos did not score.

Qualifying took place on Friday (14th), with Alberto Catucci (car No. 808) taking pole position in Category A, and Augusto Sangari (car No. 88) taking pole position in Category B.

Those who took the podium in Heats 1 and 2 of Category A were: Murillo Fiorea duo by Guilherme Siltoli, followed by Alberto Catucci and Joan Cardoso. In Category B, the winners of both races are Addison Jr.

How was the race?

The race was delayed several laps due to Caio Cunha abandoning the race before the start of race 1. The restart was carried out in a double line separating the category platoons.

On the first green flag lap, Category B drivers Ale Xavier and Jose Neto were involved in an incident that sent them off the track, triggering the safety car. The race returned to the green flag with five minutes remaining.

The safety car returned to the track during a battle for the Category B lead between Augusto Sangalli, Nico Dall’Agnol and Adilson Jr. This caused Sangalli to move back into position to avoid a possible penalty. The race ended with a green flag, with Adilson taking the lead on the final lap.

The start of Race 2 was postponed and the safety car remained on track while the car involved in the incident in the first heat was removed. The race effectively started after 10 minutes of running time.

On the first green flag lap, a new incident involving Ewerson Díaz and Dallagnoll led to the reintroduction of the safety car. The race ended under the green flag.

Races 3 and 4 have been postponed to tomorrow (15th) with times not yet determined. Races 5 and 6 so far have remained at their original times, 5:10pm (Saturday) and 12:15am (Sunday), respectively (Brasilia time).

Turismo Nacional will be distributed via the official YouTube channel for this category.
