World number two awaits Alcaraz or Aliassime to decide this Sunday

With a two-set-0 victory of 7/5 and 6/2 in 1 hour and 52 minutes, Sinner advanced to his third consecutive decider in a tournament featuring eight of the best tennis players on the circuit.
After losing by decision to Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in 2023 and defeating American Taylor Fritz last year, Sinner awaits the winner of another semi-final, between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (ranking leader) and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (eighth place). The match will take place this Saturday at 4:30 pm (Brasilia time). The decision is scheduled for this Sunday at 2pm (Brasilia time).
The superiority of the serve was decisive.
The first set was played point by point. Sinner had a chance to break the Australian’s serve in the first game, but wasted two break points. De Minaur rallied to take a 40-0 lead in the second game, but the Italian rallied, saving three break points and clinching serve.
Since then, Sinner dominated on serve (his first serve accuracy ranged from 78% to 54%) and played aggressively, creating eight break chances in the seventh, ninth, and 11th games. On this last attempt, de Minaur was unable to avoid a break, and the world No. 2 took the lead on the scoreboard for the first time at 6/5, finishing serve at 7/5.
Tired and unfocused, de Minaur was unable to maintain his balance in the second set. The overwhelming Sinner weakened his opponent’s resistance with his powerful serve.
Unlike the previous round, the Italian won the rally and cornered the Australian in the first game, breaking his rival’s serve and opening up a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Even with the victory on track, Sinner maintained his intensity and cruised to victory, using his second match point to his advantage to seal a partial victory at 6/2, ending the match at two sets to zero and one win away from winning his second ATP Finals title.
