Sustainable infrastructure advances with support from Bank of Amazonia

In regions where biodiversity and social issues are closely related, infrastructure development means valuing people and forests above all else. This is the logic that guides the work of Amazonia Bank, which for more than 80 years has acted as a transformation agent in the region, financing projects that combine development and sustainability.

In recent years, the agency has allocated significant investments to sustainable infrastructure projects in the region. Such resources will advance efforts in basic sanitation, low-carbon logistics, energy efficiency, and the modernization of public services.

The main objective is to promote urban growth in a way that integrates resilience to climate change and rational use of natural resources.

The agency says there is a social and environmental purpose behind each investment. This funding ranges from water and wastewater treatment systems that ensure public health and water security, to cleaner transportation networks and efficient lighting that reduce polluting gas emissions and operational costs.

Attendance at COP30

Drawing on its experience as a public bank focused on its regional mission and social environment, Banco da Amazônia is also present at COP30. At the world’s largest climate conference, the organization is highlighting a vision for development that reshapes the relationship between cities, nature and citizenship through a green infrastructure axis.

The bank says the funded projects represent a new concept of progress: learning to coexist with forests, rather than replacing them. Each investment generates positive impacts in different dimensions: economic, social, environmental and institutional.

One example is funding basic sanitation projects to reduce water pollution, improve health indicators, increase productivity, and strengthen local economies.

Similarly, low-carbon logistics corridors can help reduce transportation costs and increase the competitiveness of sustainable production chains.

With its investments in green infrastructure, the Bank of Amazonia is solidifying its position as one of the main drivers of new development policies in the statutory Amazon. This policy understands that growth without quality of life is not development.

With targeted credit, strong governance and regional vision, the Bank reaffirms its role as the technical and financial backbone of climate adaptation in the region.
