US President Donald Trump signed a measure this Friday (14th) that reduces reciprocal tariffs on imports of beef, tomatoes, coffee and bananas, with the aim of curbing post-tariff domestic food inflation.
The executive order issued by President Trump does not mention the rule that imposed the 40% surcharge on Brazil, but only applies to the 10% imposed on all countries in April.
The U.S. government has included a total of 1,090 items on the U.S. International Trade Commission’s Harmonized Tariff List. Each category is very specific; for example, there are eight classes of coffee products, as well as “coffee substitutes containing coffee.”

With this Friday’s announcement, Brazil will be able to export 95 products without paying customs duties, which were already exempt from the 40% specific tariff. Orange juice, mineral coal, petroleum and derivatives, and some minerals are exempt.
