Brazil Series B round 37, match in Resacada, Santa Catarina wins 3-1, chaos ends
This Saturday afternoon (15th) in Resacada was more than just Abai’s 3-1 victory over Remo in matchday 37 of Series B. In the end, disappointing scenes both on and off the pitch characterized the match between Santa Catarina and Pará. The match, which was supposed to be decided within four lines, was interrupted due to confusion in the stands and actually ended in a large-scale scuffle that resulted in six players being sent off.
The atmosphere was tense even before kick-off.
Behind the scenes, there were rumors that Abai would enter the field with the players from the base, citing a “lack of goals”. However, this information was denied by the club in an official statement. Tensions were therefore reflected in the stands, with the gendarmerie having to intervene to remove Remo fans who had bought tickets in the sector meant for home fans.
collision in the stands
48 minutes into the second half, members of the Remo group broke into the gate and entered the Abaifan area and attacked local residents. However, stadium security brought the fight under control and forced the intruders back into the visiting area.
On the other side of Resacada, Paisandu fans who were with Azura fans also tried to access the visiting space, causing fresh confusion and paralyzing the match. The referee added an additional 4 minutes to the first 8 minutes.
Struggles on the field, expulsion and closure
As the match appeared to be drawing to a close, Remo’s throw-in sparked an altercation between Diego Hernandez and Marquinhos Gabriel. The push by the player from the state of Pará sparked widespread conflict. After VAR analysis, the referee handed out six red cards. Four of them went to Abai and two went to Remo. With emotion in check, the match resumed and quickly ended with Abai’s victory.
Avaí and Remo’s final promise
Leon da Ilha will return to the field on Sunday (16th) at 4:30 pm in the Santa Cruz Stadium of Ribeirão Preto (SP) in the visit of Botafogo vs. SP. Meanwhile, Remo still dreams of access and at the same time hosts direct rivals Goias in Serinha.
