Flamengo defeated Sport 5-1 at the Arena Pernambuco on Saturday night (15th), marking a comeback as they celebrated 130 years of history. Coach Leon, who was frightened at the start of the match, had two players sent off in the first half of the match, making everything easier for Rio’s Lebro-Negro.
Two highlights of the game, Luis Araujo, who scored Flamengo’s first goal and assist in the first half, and Douglas Telles, the newcomer of the night, who scored with his first touch, spoke at the end of the field.
“I am even more happy to have scored this goal on Flamengo’s birthday and I would like to congratulate Dogrinhas and the entire nation,” Luis Araujo said. Now it was Douglas’ turn to talk about the special moment when he scored on his debut for Lebro Negro.
“I can’t even explain what I feel here. It was unforgettable to celebrate my birthday with Flamengo, not just with my dream, but with the fulfillment of having my family, my mother, everyone with me at that time,” said Douglas, a young debutant who wears number 81, the number 81 on his back in a historic year for the club. “The number says it all. It’s over. Don’t stop here! Keep going!” Douglas emphasized about the number.
While all the players coming off the bases experience the depressing feeling of having their heads shaved, Luis Araujo joked about Douglas’ hair in a relaxed tone. “The bald head was lucky. I wish he would score more goals, but this is a prank on the boys from the academy, making them bald in the first game. I think this will be a source of pride for them and for us as well. To welcome them like this, to welcome them the way he did, to score in such an important match, to wish him congratulations, let’s go!” Luis Araujo concluded.
