Satellite images captured Rio Bonito do Iguaçu (PR) before and after a tornado passed through last week, killing a total of eight people in Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul states.
The unstable weather was caused by an extratropical cyclone that hit particularly southern regions on Friday (7th). In Paraná state, tornadoes were recorded in the cities of Rio Bonito do Iguacu, Turbo and Guarapuaba.
The images are from the Brasil Mais Program Network, Ministry of Justice and Public Security, recorded by the Planet satellite and provided by SCCON.

Estimates released by Cimepal (Parana Environmental Technology Monitoring System) show that wind speeds reached 330 km/h in Rio Bonito do Iguacu.
The National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) estimated on Monday (10th), based on figures from the Civil Defense Department of Paraná, that the losses were already over 114.5 million reais. Satellite images show roofed buildings and debris on streets in a scorched-earth scenario after the tornado passes.
According to a preliminary report by engineers from Crea (Regional Engineering and Agriculture Council of the State of Paraná) and Cohapar (Housing Corporation of the State of Paraná), approximately 40% of the properties in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu (PR) that have been affected in some way will need to be completely reconstructed.
