Police said the men were carrying backpacks lined with material that blocked signals from the store’s anti-theft sensors. The group carried out similar thefts in various states and used interstate transportation to send the goods to recipients in São Paulo.

After the arrest, police went to a hotel in Ceylandia and found additional stolen clothing and some cocaine.

The two were taken to First Police Station. One of them said he received about 1,000 reais for stealing from shopping malls across the country.
