The US Embassy in Brazil issued a public warning on Wednesday (12th) about an attempted coup d’etat taking advantage of the tornado tragedy in Paraná state to solicit false donations in the name of US authorities. In a publication on X, the diplomatic mission said it was aware of “criminal fraud seeking donations for relief efforts in southern Brazil.” “A gift to the factions”: the left criticizes Delight’s report on PL Antifason and compares it with Blindergem’s PEC Aniel Franco’s text on the COP: “Populations of African descent need to be increasingly included in decision-making forums” The text emphasizes that “American authorities do not ask for money or ask for donations through social networks” and advises citizens “not to send or share money” when faced with messages of this kind. “We will disclose personal information if we receive a message requesting money on behalf of the U.S. government,” it said, adding that “these coup attempts” must be immediately denounced and thwarted. The publication comes days after three tornadoes passed through the south-central state of Paraná, killing at least seven people and leaving a trail of destruction in cities including Rio Bonito do Iguacu, Guarapuaba and Turbo. The phenomenon was confirmed by the Paraná Environmental Technical Monitoring System (Simepar), with wind speeds reaching up to 330 km/h, according to a technical report.
